Where do you live and why?
“We live in Burleigh on the Gold Coast.”
What do you love about your suburb?
“We love being so close to Burleigh headland, fantastic surf beaches, Tallebudgera Creek and the hinterland. It’s a fantastic area to bring up a young family and still retains the familiar scale and feel of how much of the coast used to be. There is also a thriving community of small businesses and the restaurant and coffee options are hard to beat.”
What do you love about your home?
“Our home is quite modest but we renovated it ourselves and our kids have grown up here, so I love the memories attached to it. I love how the house opens up to beautiful trees full of birds and gets amazing sun in winter.”
What would you change about your home?
“Lots, but the basic planning and orientation of things is right, which makes it a very easy house to live in and enjoy year round. There were a lot of safe decisions made when we renovated, which were largely driven by budget. If I had my time again I would definitely be a bit more adventurous.”
If money was no barrier, what would be your dream home and where would it be?
“I would still be in Burleigh – we love it. It would be a playful house on the hill overlooking the surf. It would be very open with complete connection to climate and landscape and plenty of garden and room to grow our own vegetables. My wife is a fantastic cook and loves spending quality time with the kids in the garden.”
