Tallebudgera is the place to call home. Just a 10 min drive to Stocklands Burleigh which is a great centre with Big W, Woolies and Aldi plus all the other retail offerings. Burleigh Heads is one of the best surf beaches and there are oodles of restaurants and cafes there or head south to Elanora.
West Burleigh at the entrance to the valley has suddenly got trendy with Parlour cafe opening recently plus Woodbox for organic, a Japanese restaurant and two other cafes.
Schools, well St Andrews Lutheran College goes from Prep to Y12 and has a great student cohort, amazing teachers and beautiful grounds. But the public Tallebudgera State School Primary is also excellent and there is also the cutest Ingleside primary school further out the valley. Two child care centres, one near St Andrews and one near Tally State School. Man on the Bike shops has a great cafe, bottleo and fish and chip shop plus a convenience store, hairdresser and vet, covers the essentials to save a drive into Burleigh.
Traffic in the valley has two speeds, rush hour with work/school traffic, and the rest of the time you’ve got the roads to yourself and its so peaceful. At night we never hear anything unless there’s a late-night neighbour returning home or heading off early in the dark. You’ll get the Saturday morning roar of the bike riders heading out for a ride and if you are walking early you’ll see the peloton coming by in their lycra.
Wildlife, well we have wallabies munching on our back lawn much of the year, hear koalas sometimes and have a family of water dragons who live in our bush backyard, we don’t fence or keep cats/dogs so we can enjoy the wildlife and love feeding the lorikeets. We also see king parrots, galahs and rosellas in the trees or enjoying our birdbath. Usually see a snake about once a year, sometimes squished on the road but never a problem to us. Leave them alone and they’ll leave you alone.
If you like gardening, then take your pick, there are numerous properties with beautiful green lawns, trees, gardens. Or if you don’t then find one of the ones with bush behind where you just mow around your home and leave the rest a la natural. Put in a vege garden (fence out the hares though), plant some fruit trees, a passionfruit vine, avocado tree and a chook run, who needs to shop organic when you can grow it.
Pros: green country lifestyle, peaceful most of the time and neighbours let you do your own thing but give you a wave or a hand if you ask. You’ll never hear your neighbour flush his loo like you get in suburbia.
Cons: you’ll need to buy a ride-on mower and do a bit more yard work but then you don’t need that gym membership either
